Creating a project

A project is the container for one roof. Creating one starts with an address — the platform finds the building, measures the roof from satellite data, prices it, and lets you confirm the imagery before anything is locked in. Every later step (labeling, the 3D model, cut sheet, BOM, and proposal) hangs off this project.

The New Project wizard walks you through four steps: Details, Verify, Review, and Pay. You won't be asked to type in a square footage — the roof size is detected for you and drives the cost.

1. Details — name and address

• Give the project a name you'll recognize later (e.g. the homeowner's name or street address).
• Search for the property address. US addresses only — pick the match from the dropdown so the coordinates are exact.
• As soon as a valid address is selected, the roof is measured automatically from satellite imagery — no manual square-footage entry.

2. The detected roof size and cost

• The wizard pulls the building footprint and shows the detected square footage along with the project's price tier.
• The roof's square footage is what the project costs — larger roofs draw more square footage from your organization's SF pool.
• If satellite data isn't available for the address, you'll see an estimate banner instead. A conservative default is used and the true size is reconciled after you label the roof.

3. Verify the imagery, then save

• On the Verify step, confirm the right roof is centered, the photo isn't years old, and trees aren't hiding most of the structure. The takeoff uses this exact imagery — bad imagery here means a bad report.
• Continue to Review to see the order summary: project name, address, and detected roof size.
• Finish by using a free project credit (when you have one) or paying with card. The project is only created after this completes — cancelling never leaves an orphan project behind.
