Proposals & Sharing
Building a proposal
Use the proposal builder to assemble a branded, paper-style proposal from your project data — toggle sections, edit content inline, and download a PDF.
The proposal builder shows a live, full-page preview of your proposal — like looking at the finished paper document. Click any section directly in the preview to open its editor in a side drawer; the preview slides over so you can still see your changes as you type.
Everything is pre-filled from the project: the address, square footage, plane count, and roof measurements flow in automatically, and your company details come from your saved branding. You only need to fill in pricing and any specifics.
Choosing and ordering sections
The Sections menu (in the toolbar) lists every block a proposal can contain. Use the toggle to turn a section on or off, and the up/down arrows to reorder it.
- Proposal Header — your logo, company name and contact info, plus the proposal number and dates (this acts as the letterhead).
- Client Information and Project Details — who the proposal is for and the property it covers.
- Scope of Work — the free-text description of what the job includes; edit it to match the specific project.
- Pricing Breakdown — your line items (item, description, quantity, unit price).
- Roof Measurements — area, ridge, eave, valley, hip, and perimeter pulled from the project.
- Total & Payment — subtotal, discount, tax, total, and deposit.
- Notes, Terms & Conditions, and the Signature Block round out the document.
Pricing and totals
Open the Pricing Breakdown section to add, edit, or remove line items. Add an item, give it a name and description, then set quantity and unit price — the amounts and subtotal update live.
In the Total & Payment section you set Tax %, Deposit %, and Discount %. These feed the totals and also drive the auto-generated Terms ("X% deposit required", "Price valid N days").
Saving and exporting
Your work is saved as a draft. Click Save (or press Cmd/Ctrl-S) to store the whole proposal; the toolbar shows "Saved", "Unsaved changes", or "Saving…" so you always know its state. The draft reloads automatically next time you open the project.
Use the PDF button to download the proposal as a file you can print or attach. When you're ready for the customer to sign, use Send for Signature instead — see the related article.
